15 must have travel apps
We all use our phones to help us travel. Below are our favorite apps that we can’t live without when traveling. Have we missed anything that we must try? Send us an email at hi@passportstori.es!
Flights
Momondo – Our go to place for finding flights and in almost all cases lowest price. Free to use and available on iOS and Android.
Hopper – Great app for finding cheapest flights and especially if you can be flexible on flight dates. Great notification feature with alerts if prices drops.
FlightAware – Track flights online, see live map of flight and check on delays, cancellations and gate changes.
Accommodation
Hotels.com – Finding and booking hotels worldwide. Similar as Booking but at least we prefer Hotels.com interface and features.
Airbnb – To book home rentals instead of hotels. We use this on almost every trip that we take.
Mr & Mrs Smith – Great curation of boutique and stylish hotels around the world. We almost always use this page for inspiration and have never had a bad hotel experience when finding a hotel through Mr & Mrs Smith.
Hotel Tonight – Great for finding last-minute deals for hotel stays in bigger cities.
Getting around
Tripit – Declutters your travel planning and organizes everything in one place. Saves flight itineraries, tickets, hotels and also makes it easy to share with travel partners.
Google Maps – Essential when traveling and finding your way around. Offline mode, finding restaurants and directions are great.
Citymapper – Only available in 40-ish cities but if you are in a city with Citymapper support, then download it. Great for getting around, public transport and direction.
Uber – Ride-hailing app. Good starting point but might have to check out Lyft, Grab, Cabify or local alternatives depending on where you are travelling.
GlobeTips – Smart app for iOS users that help you with tips based on what country you are.
Culture Trip – Great app for exploring destinations, discover insider recommendations and cool cultural experiences.
Photography
Lightroom Mobile – Free and paid plans. We use it for all our editing on both mobile phones, iPad and our Macs. Everything in sync between the two of us as well.
SunSurveyor – Great for seeing sunrises and sunsets to plan photography. We use Lite version that is free.
