Three unforgettable days at Kapama in Kruger National Park
Kruger Park, South Africa
We spent three nights at Kapama in Kruger National Park. Kapama is a group of luxury lodges that is on a private reserve. Land at a small local airport and picked up by the staff in the open safari cars there.
The location
Drove few minutes to the entrance to the Kapama area and were immediately greeted by nature and animals. The reserve is 13 000 hectares with wilderness and home to over 40 different mammal species and 350 bird species. Inside of Kapama, it was a ten-minute drive to their Southern Camp where we stayed.
The hotel
Kapama consists of four different lodge areas that have their own style. We stayed at their Southern Camp and consists of 25 suites and villas. Spacious and modern with the wilderness just outside the windows. All meals included and especially the evenings outdoor with barbeque and dance were amazing.
Safari drive
Every day consisted of two 3-hour drives. One in the morning at 6 am and on in the afternoon at 3 pm. In between, you were free to hang in the pool or in the public areas. Each drive was to a different part of the reserve and often to see specific animals that lived there. All big five animals (lion, leopard, rhinos, elephant, and buffalo) are there and we were lucky enough to see them all.
Final words
This was a once in a lifetime experience and loved the safari stay. Expensive but a unique experience, all food is included and definitely worth it. Kapama was great with private camp and great staff.
