Beautiful boutique hotel in historic old town of Alcudia

We continued from Sóller along the coast and came to Alcudia. In Alcudia we decided to stay in the old town area that is located 2-3 kilometers inland from the beach part of town.

First impressions

First thoughts came when parking the car outside of the town wall and the beauty of this old, historic place. The area dates back to 16th century and surrounded by a wall that can be walked on top of. After few minute walk on cobblestone streets, we were greeted by the amazing staff at Hotel Can Mostatxins. The first impressions of the hotel were the perfect combination of old with exposed brick walls and the modern interior design.

The Hotel

Small, boutique hotel with only eight rooms. Built into a 15th-century olive presser and characterized by original mason-built walls combined with modern, clean design. The staff with Valentina and Aurora were so adorable and made sure that we were at home from the first minute inside the doors. The name means mustache in Mallorcan and is a detail you will see throughout the hotel.

The location

Located in the heart of Alcudia’s Old Town district. A 90-minute drive from Sóller where we came from and 45-minute drive if you come from Palma de Majora instead. Alcudia’s tourist area by the beach is a few minute drive away. You have to park outside the walls and walk a few minutes to get to the hotel. The old town area dates back to 12th century when the coastal areas frequently were attacked by pirates and built the town inland and protected by the wall.

The room

Beautiful rooms and one of the most comfortable beds we ever slept in. Smaller window with limited light but that was never an issue for us. Quiet streets without cars and very relaxing. Like the rest of the hotel a perfect balance of old and new design. A complimentary bottle of cava waited for us in the room that was enjoyed in the jacuzzi later that night.

Courtyard & Pool

The grotto-like courtyard and jacuzzi is one of the most stunning rooms we have seen. Big jacuzzi with open sky to see the stars. Spent an hour here before heading out to dinner and enjoyed our cava.

Food & Drinks

We had dinner a few blocks away. In the morning we had a great complimentary breakfast.

Our thoughts

As you might have noticed, we loved our stay at Hotel Can Mostatxins and it is one of the most amazing places we ever stayed. Everything from the Alcudia Old Town area to the combination of historic elements with modern design. Owner Mark and staff Valentina and Aurora always went out of their way to make us feel at home. If ever on Majorca, get a rental car and spend a day or two up here. You won’t regret it!
